Interested in a remote internship with Cedarwood? We are currently taking applications for Summer and Fall 2022.

Cedarwood offers online internship opportunities for students enrolled in accredited Masters-level programs, such as MEd, MC, and advanced MSW degrees. Our supervision meets requirements for registration with provincial bodies including the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and BC College of Social Workers.

Successful applicants demonstrate a background of education, experience, and interest reflecting a commitment to personal growth and community service. At least one year of paid, full-time experience in social services, education, healthcare or government is required. Substantive volunteer effort in the areas of community development and organization or charitable service will also be considered. Consistent with our mandate for justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI), we value the importance of lived experience, and will treat substantive involvement with one’s community as equivalent.

Students should carefully review their practicum requirements to ensure Cedarwood can meet these. Attention should be paid to eligibility of online sessions as counting for direct contact hours — some programs require in-person contact, which cannot be fulfilled by our internship program. Please also note that we do not offer group hours.

To complete online sessions, interns need to have reliable and predictable access to a quiet, dedicated, and tastefully-decorated space in which to see clients online. A professional AV setup, including high-speed internet and quality webcam and microphone is also required.

At completion of their practicum, interns who meet benchmarks for client satisfaction, ethics and good practice are offered the opportunity to join Cedarwood. As such, we request that applicants be open to committing to us for a minimum of three years — about one for practicum, and two for professional-level practice.
